Statement from MNGOP Chairman Alex Plechash
"Amy Klobuchar should co-sponsor the WALZ Act—the Welfare Abuse and Laundering Zillions Act. Today.
The bill requires government to verify that services were actually provided before handing out taxpayer money. That should not require courage. It should require common sense.
But Amy has already skipped two Senate hearings examining Minnesota fraud. Maybe she was too busy campaigning. Maybe she is afraid to confront the failures of Tim Walz and her own party. Either way, Minnesotans elected her to do the work—not avoid it.
Amy says she would have handled the fraud crisis differently than Walz. Here is her chance to prove it. Put your name on the WALZ Act.
We know Amy struggles with big decisions. Nuclear power? She wavers. Condemning Walz's pardon of a convicted child sex offender? She dodges. Breaking with the DFL when it matters? Do not hold your breath.
But stopping fraud is not a difficult decision. It is a 90–10 issue. Even Amy's DFL base understands that taxpayers should not be forced to pay for services that were never provided.
No more hearings skipped. No more carefully tested talking points. No more hiding behind Tim Walz. Take a day off from campaigning. Show up for work. Co-sponsor the Welfare Abuse and Laundering Zillions Act.
Sign the bill—or admit that when it comes to Minnesota fraud, you are not different from Tim Walz.
